Synopsis:
Dr. Culbert is medical director of the integrative medicine program at Children’s Hospital and Clinics in Minnesota. In this article he provides a concise, scientific overview of common GI problems in children such as: constipation and encopresis. Dr. Culbert effectively presents the multifacted nature of these problems and suggests that a holistic treatment approach is crucial. As with all good integrative care, complimentary and alternative medicine (CAM) is suggested in this case when traditional medications might not address all dimensions of the causes and symptoms.
