End of Life

Synopsis:

"End of Life" is a chapter taken from the book, "From Birth to Death and Bench to Clinic: The Hastings Center Bioethics Briefing Book for Journalists, Policymakers, and Campaigns".  It provides an in-depth look at the ethical and legal issues that arise when patients, families, caregivers, and doctors are faced with end-of-life care decisions.  It addresses the importance and role of advanced directives such as a living will and the appointment of health care proxies.
